Grail Jones
Head Instructor | Black Belt
Grail Jones is the Head Instructor and Black Belt at Jones Family Jiu-Jitsu Geelong.
Grail began his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey at the age of 41, originally taking up the martial art to improve his fitness. What began as a way to get fit quickly became a passion that would shape the next decade of his life.
Grail initially trained under Peter DeBean, travelling from Geelong to St Kilda twice a week and completing up to three training sessions a day. He continued this demanding routine for three years before beginning his training under Daniel Cherubin in 2018.
For many years, Grail committed himself to training six days a week, consistently developing his skills, knowledge and understanding of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. After a decade of dedication to the art, Grail was awarded his Black Belt in 2025.
He now trains alongside his wife and two children.
Grail’s Philosophy
Grail believes every student deserves his time, attention and knowledge. His goal is to ensure that every student develops a strong understanding of the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu while building the confidence to continue learning and progressing.
He is passionate about sharing his knowledge of the art and helping students learn, grow and develop both on and off the mats.
For Grail, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is more than just a martial art. It is a journey of continual learning, discipline, growth and discovery — and one he hopes every student can experience and ultimately fall in love with, just as he has.
“Learn, grow, share your knowledge and enjoy the journey.”
